I've responded to many new shooters inquiring about matches this year, and they seem very excited about coming out and giving our popular sport a try. Always nice to have new blood coming in.
Most of you have heard by now that an RO class is scheduled for April 18-19 at Oakdale Gun Club. I encouragel ALL shooters who are not RO's, not just the new ones, to take this class and get certified. The number of CRO's/RO's in this state is dissapointing considering how many regular shooters we have. Too often at matches I've seen shooters who are not RO's but familiar with some of the rules, be forced to fill in when we are short of RO's. Their efforts to help are appreciated but all to often improper rulings on scoring, awarding of reshoots, basic procedure, and illegal course design occur.
This class will help shooters not only be more aware of the rules, but help you in being a better shooter, course of fire designer, and all around valued member of your sport.
The Section match is scheduled for June 20-21. I will have applications out soon. The biggest dilemma with this match is that currently I will have to serve as Match Director and Ranger Master. Both jobs are tough by themselves, but together is something I'm not looking forward to. If anybody knows a qualified RM/CRO/RO to serve as RM, that is willing to take this position, please let me know. Most of the usual people have been asked already.
Well thats enough for now. Winter can't last forever. Pretty soon it will be, "Make Ready" time again
